I’m not sure people quite grasp the gravity of this situation?
This isn’t “Oh phooey they took away my porn that’s the last straw!!”
This is “Many of the people I follow will be forcefully removed from this website because their blogs were at some point wrongfully tagged as NSFW while discussions revolving around LGBT topics will effectively be censored due to the implicit sexualization of LGBT identities. Many of the remaining blogs that I follow will simply leave because they have no other reason to stay here, leading to a self-reinforcing exodus of users abandoning the website because the people who they followed left as well. Meanwhile the pedophiles and porn bots that the site was trying to target with this in the first place will all largely walk away from this unscathed while many sex workers and nsfw artists face the removal of one of their last platforms and sources of income.“
None of this us to mention how huge of a blow this is financially to the website itself. You don’t do something as drastic as deleting all of the nsfw content off your site unless you’re in real hot water. Add all of this on top of the recent removal from the app store and many long term instances of incompetence and mismanagement and it’s clear to see which direction this website is headed. It’s not a sinking ship, it’s a crashing plane.
Most “NOMAP” blogs don’t post nsfw content, so as to not draw undue attention to themselves and to seem safe and non-threatening to the minors they seek to groom. This will do nothing to stop them.
